He watched it happen. From high school to college, he saw each and every piece of his brothers’ journeys; but one piece remained — the NFL.
After watching his brothers fall short of reaching the NFL, football player Bo Onu had his mind set on making it all the way. Bo went through the recruitment process and made the first step of his journey by committing to Baylor University.
“I’ve been there a couple of times and the community was good,” Bo said. “I met a couple of players and they said nothing but good things [about the school.] Baylor was texting me the most, showing me love the most and they even came down to Hebron a couple of times.”
Bo attributes his journey to his older brother Omar, who helped guide him throughout his recruitment process. Bo said he will use the advice he received and hopes to fulfill the dreams that his brothers couldn’t.
“My dad and mom still work, so I want to help them retire,” Bo said. “[After] seeing my two older brothers not make it [into the NFL,] I want to be the first to make it in the family.”
Bo plans to pursue a major in mechanical engineering. He said he hopes transitioning from high school to college football will inspire growth in him as a player and as a person.
“When I get [to college,] it’s going to be a whole new environment,” Bo said. “I have got to get out there, compete [and] show [everyone] who I am.”
