Softball lost its first district match of the season to Irving Nimitz 11-5 on March 10.
Nimitz got a home run in the first inning and another two in the third. Senior Zebedee Gonzales said the team underestimated Nimitz.
“They’re typically not a challenging team,” Gonzales said. “But I think they definitely improved on their pitching, and they did a good job on defense.”
As far as what the Hawks need to improve on, Gonzales said the team is trying to heighten its offensive skills.
“I think we’re pretty decent on defense because we work on that a lot, but one of the things we need to improve on is our hitting,” Gonzales said. “We don’t have that many power hitters on the team — we’re better at the short game — but we’re working on that.”
