Sophomore Emily Szukala get ready to serve the ball during practice. She plays for the junior varsity team.

The varsity volleyball team will compete at Trinity on Friday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. after defeating L.D. Bell on Sept. 12.

The Lady Hawks won in three consecutive sets.

“L.D. Bell came at us very hard,” head coach Karin Keeney said. “But since they stepped up, my kids stepped up, and that was really good to see. There were some skills going on in that court: very hard hitting, good passing, good serving. It was one of their better games.”

After starting the district season 2-0, the team is preparing to face tough competition against Trinity.

“I’m expecting a good game,” Keeney said. “Trinity is usually a physical team, and we’re going to have to play good ball in order to beat them. I hope the outcome will be the same. This is all good for us, because we are about to see the hardest part of our district in another week.”
