Hebron dominant in sweep of Lewisville
The Hawks defeated the Lewisville Farmers in three straight sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-19) on Friday night at the Hawks Nest. Hebron dominated from the start, as Lewisville never got within 3 points through the first two sets.
Key to the Hawks’ victory was outstanding defensive play, both at the net from middle hitters Tamia Reeves and Savannah Blagg, and in the back, with senior Elizabeth Hokaj and sophomore Annie Benbow making several miraculous saves.
The Hawks appeared to tire in the third set, as the committed several costly errors, usually by hitting the ball out of bounds. Also in the third set, Lauren Merrill, a sophomore middle hitter, went out of the game after someone appeared to land on her ankle. This is the second time that Merrill has injured her ankle, and consequently, she has been scratched from the game at Allen.
In spite of this, the Lady Hawks managed to pull away to sweep Lewisville. They are now 3-0 in district play but face a challenge in their next district game against Allen, a team that has plenty of physical ability.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
