The boys soccer team will begin district games on Jan. 23 against the Southlake Carroll Dragons. The team won against R.L. Turner in the final preseason game on Jan. 19 by a score of 2-1. The team ended the preseason with a score of 5-1-2.

“We had a difficult preseason program [of] consistent lifting and running as well as incorporating technical aspects,” boys soccer coach Taylor Baca said. “In the two games that we tied, there were more than enough chances to win the game. In our district, which is very competitive, we need to make sure we are putting those chances away.”

The team won district 5-6A and made it to the regional finals last year. Baca said the main goal is to build on what the team did last year.

“This year, we have a lot of returning players and our goal has to be improving on what we did last year,” Baca said. “Ideally, the state tournament is what we are looking to achieve.”
