The football team will play in the first round of the playoffs against the Allen Eagles on Nov. 17 after winning its final district game of the season on Friday against the Southlake Carroll Dragons.
The Hawks scored the first points of the game with junior kicker Grant Paulette making a 28-yard field goal, making the score 3-0. Before the end of the first quarter, Southlake scored two touchdowns, with Tavian Gould rushing a touchdown and Will Bowers passing to Preston Forney.
In the middle of the second quarter, senior quarterback Clayton Tune scored a touchdown for Hebron, making the score 9-14. Junior wide receiver Trejan Bridges then returned a punt for 70 yards and a touchdown, pulling Hebron ahead and making the score 15-14. Southlake kicker Neal Koskay then made a 39-yard field goal, making the halftime score 15-17.
In the third quarter, senior running back Jatyn Taylor rushed 55 yards to score the first touchdown of the quarter, making the score 22-17.
At the start of the fourth quarter, Tune completed a pass to senior wide receiver Jaren Mitchell 28 yards to score a touchdown. Bowers then passed to Hudson Shrum to score a touchdown for Southlake Carroll, making the score 29-24. Tune again passed to Mitchell to score another touchdown, making the score 36-24.
The fourth quarter ended with Gould rushing for a 2-yard touchdown, making the final score 36-31.
