Three local coffee shops for studying
Whether you are doing school virtually, in-person or a mix of both, this is the perfect time to expand your caffeine horizons and support small businesses. COVID-19 has affected many aspects of school this year, but getting out of the house has become more exciting than ever, even if it’s for something as mundane as studying.
Karmic Grounds 9/10
3033 Ohio Dr Suite 1000
Frisco, TX 75035
This coffee shop is great for studying, alone or with friends. The interior is calming and generally conducive to productivity. There is plenty of space with the inside dining room, a patio and private workrooms. They also offer public WiFi and require customers to wear face masks when up and walking around the restaurant. The outdoor patio faces Ohio Drive which can be noisy with cars passing by during high traffic times. They provide a wide selection of unique drinks such as lavender lemonade matcha and rose chai tea. This is a serene study spot perfect for individuals or groups.
The Aussie Grind 7/10
3930 Preston Rd #120
Frisco, TX 75035
The atmosphere of this coffee shop is lively and inviting. The Aussie Grind is owned by an Australian couple, and their staff was made up of friendly, authentic Australians. One downside is no public WiFi, so if you’re coming here to do online work, you’ll need to have a personal hotspot. They offer several breakfast and lunch classics, but because many people come here for a meal, it can get a bit loud. We recommend the iced chai tea latte — it was perfectly spiced and sweet. However, this is not the place for hours of intense studying. Overall, we would recommend this to someone who enjoys working with background noise.
Summer Moon 6/10
6943 Main St
Frisco, TX 75034
While this coffee shop has a cute, quiet interior and plenty of outside seating, the drinks are disappointingly bland. The frozen spiced chai latte, a drink that is supposed to be flavorful, is dull and lacking. There is public WiFi, and the shop requires customers to wear face masks when up and walking around the restaurant. Even in the afternoon, this shop is packed, so you’ll have to sit outside unless there’s a free inside spot by chance. There is a cornhole set to play outside when taking a brain break with your friends.
Leave big corporations behind and step into local businesses. These businesses offer a pleasant change of pace as we navigate the new challenges that come with attending school during a pandemic. After all, it’s nice to simply be out of the house, whether or not you chose to do your homework.

Malley, I love the topic of your article! It’s always fun to find local shops to try, and you know I like coffee. I like to check out places in Dallas, but I’m glad to have some ideas north of us!
