Entr’Acte to perform Thanks, Awfully
The Freshman Entr’Acte class will present its winter show Thanks, Awfully on Jan. 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. at the 9th grade campus cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.
“I identify with my character a lot, so it was a challenge to differentiate my own character from myself,” freshman Macy Newman, who plays Jan Van Sickle, said.
Thanks, Awfully is a comedy/farce One-Act. In the play, Richard Montague, a wealthy artist, hates women and thinks they’re “dumb.” He wagers his sister that he can get through one of her parties and use only two words: “Thanks, awfully!” The ladies come chattering in and they all go for the one man, Richard, and he gets along on his two words well until the girl he once loved appears.
“I’ve really enjoyed seeing everything come together,” freshman Shae Duggan said. “I [haven’t] got the opportunity to see it until this week, and it’s a really interesting and funny show.”
Thanks, Awfully is directed by theatre director Christine McClung. The freshman cast has been working on the show since Thanksgiving Break.
“This show is an ensemble cast, which means that you go on and off throughout the show,” freshman Rebecca Varghese said. “I think one of the hardest things is portraying your character, and making sure your attitude and your tone and the vibe of your character comes across to the audience, in the very short amount of time that you have.”
