The theater UIL One Act play will perform Elizabeth Rex at the Area level of the One Act competition Saturday April 1, at 2: 30, at The Colony High School.

Elizabeth Rex has advanced through the Zone, District, and Bi-District levels of the competition. If the cast and crew place in the Area level, they will advance to Regionals.

“I feel it’s a solid show, and that we can do it,” senior Fernando Krasovsky said.  “We can get places. [The show] has a great tech aspect to the show, and all the techniques we are using with sound and lighting and set really work with the acting of the show.”

If theater advances to Regionals, it will be the farthest they have ever gotten in the One Act Competition.

“This year, we really have the tools and resources to get farther in the competition,” senior Brooke Loye said. “We have a cast that really wants to advance, all these directors who are working so hard in every single aspect of the show, whether it’s tech or acting.”

The one-act cast has won a number of awards including the tech crew winning All-Star Crew, Loye winning Best Actress, senior Sean Ghedi winning Best Actor, Krasovsky winning Tech Honorable Mention, and senior Gabbie David and senior AJ Abdullah winning All-Star Cast.

“[One Act] can be stressful at times,” sophomore Joseph Hoffman said. “But we have an overall good grasp of the show. I think we have a great show, and that we’ll make it far.”
