Muslim Student Association organize “Ask a Muslim Day”

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) will be holding “Ask a Muslim Day” during block lunch April 27.

“The students in MSA hope to spread knowledge about Islam,” MSA sponsor Lauren Baumgarten said. “They want to clarify any misconceptions people have about Muslims and the Islamic faith.”

During block lunch, there will be a table set up in front of the cafeteria. There the club will have signs and snacks for students to enjoy.

“I got the idea from watching a video on Facebook,” Baumgarten said. “It’s about a woman who stood with her husband in public. They encouraged people to ask them questions about, well … anything!”

The MSA is a club that meets every Monday during A block with a goal “to provide a means of connection for Muslim-American students and everyone at Hebron High School.”

“With a lot of the hatred and confusion about Muslims in the media and extremists/terrorists being associated with all of Islam, we hope to break down the stereotypes and prejudices that society has against Muslims,” Baumgarten said. “We also hope to start that awareness with our Hebron community.”
