“The White Snake” is slithering its way here
Encore Theater will be performing “White Snake” in the auditorium on Oct. 2, 3, and 4 at 7p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.
The story revolves around a spirit named White Snake who gets tired of being immortal. In her search for the joys of life, she falls in love and marries a mortal man named Xu Xian (shu-shen). Eventually however, her marriage to Xu Xian attracts the attention of a monk, who notices that the balance of the spirit world is off-kilter. The plot focuses on the journey of this monk to restore equilibrium.
“It’s like Beauty and the Beast, but reversed,” senior Encore member Buddy Kennedy said, who plays Xu Xian.
Encore has been rehearsing for this play since the first day of school when auditions took place. Rehearsals have taken place for the past 5 weeks for 7 hours a day.
“It’s pretty stressful, but I think it’ll be worth it,” Kennedy said.
