Silver Wings to perform annual spring show “Emotions in Motion”
Silver Wings will present its annual Spring Show “Emotions in Motion” from April 25-27 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Tickets are on sale on the Silver Wings’ website.
“Our show has a lot of diversity,” senior Keegan Smith said. “If you like tap, you can do tap, if you like ballet, you can do ballet, etc. You can do what you are passionate about.”
Silver Wings began practicing for the show in November with two-hour morning rehearsals on school days and multiple practices on Saturdays. Practicing every day has allowed Silver Wings to not only learn the dances, but to perfect them as well.
“Performing is really a joy for me,” senior lieutenant Cella Linebarger said. “The hardest thing is saying goodbye. It’s a good way to end the year, but it’s hard to stop doing something when you’ve been doing it for so long.”
The Wings will dance contemporary, hip hop, jazz, musical theatre, tap, novelty, ballet and kick routines. Saturday night’s performance will also include a special video presentation involving the graduating seniors in Silver Wings.
“Different groups all come together to create the show,” first lieutenant Hannah Lee said. “We have the Wings, Dance 3/4, Drum Line, the Wingmen, Orchestra, Hope Word, Color Guard, DFC, and we even have a number with the junior and senior dads.”
Although the dances are technically challenging, captain Holly Bowling said she appreciates the chance to show the school, friends and family how hard the team has worked and how dedicated they are to the show and each other.
“To the underclassmen, I would say not to take any moments for granted,” Bowling said. “I know that it might sound silly, but it’s true. You never think that your last performance will come but it does. It feels like just yesterday that it was my first Spring Show, and now it’s my last.”
