Registration for Career Out opens tomorrow
LISD is hosting Career Out – a day for seniors to job shadow executives, administrators, and team members from businesses in the LISD community. The portal to register opens Jan. 22 at 7 a.m.
“This is the first time [this event is happening],” principal Scot Finch said. “We’ve got a lot of people [from different career fields] who have volunteered to be shadowed. It’ll be a one-on-one deal where you’ll be shadowing one person at a time.”
The event is being coordinated by Lindsay Ayers who is the Director of Strategic Partnerships for the district. Finch said this is beneficial for students to figure out their future career possibilities.
“I think it’s a cool idea,” Finch said. “It’s good if there’s something you might want to do and go shadow someone to see if it’s something you want to do when you grow up. Sometimes people go to college, get a degree, start the job and then they figure out that this is not something they want to do. I like this for our students because [it will be] helping [seniors] discern and decide if [the career they want] is something they want to do.”
