Silver wings to hold annual gift galleria
The annual Silver Wing Gift Galleria fundraiser will be held on Dec. 2 from 9am to 4pm at the Ninth Grade Center gym, cafeteria and hallways. Admission is free.
“The Gift Galleria helps us fundraise for the spring show in April,” Silver Wing first lieutenant Allison Rutherford said. “It also gives vendors an opportunity to come out and share what they can, which is nice for the community.”
There are 96 vendors at the Galleria this year. A silent auction will take place, and the band and art department will have booths set up. Vendors will be selling clothing, jewelry, makeup and much more.
The fundraising that the girls raise for the Gift Galleria goes to pay for a number of things, namely the annual spring show, “ Silent Auction Chair Linda Rutherford said. The show is where the Silver Wings are able to show off the elite of the year, and all different types of dances and techniques that they’ve learned.”
Linda Rutherford said that in the past, this Silver Wing fundraiser generally raised between $7,000 and $10,000. The money goes toward the spring show, costumes, contest fees, and other needs the team has.
“I believe the Silver Wing’s Gift Galleria is important because it’s an important fundraiser for our team,” sergeant Andie Hilburn said. ”It helps us bring the community and the whole school together because it’s a very local and fun celebration of the holidays.”
