When I first heard the third “Paddington” movie being released on Valentine’s Day, it caught my attention. Although I cherish children’s movies as a whole, “Paddington” never made a significant impact on me as a kid. However, this new release flipped my perspective.
“Paddington in Peru” starts off with Paddington receiving a letter from the “Home for Retired Bears.” This letter draws him to visit his aunt, Lucy, in Peru. When his family arrived, they didn’t expect to find that Aunt Lucy was missing.
Even though this opening twist intrigued me, I questioned whether this would be another movie with a cliché plot. Surprisingly, the movie has multiple plot twists, which kept me engaged the whole time.
One thing that caught my attention was the audience’s reaction to funny moments designed for a younger age range. Throughout multiple parts of the movie, I heard laughter and giggles fill the theater. It was refreshing to see a community connect over a movie. Hearing the reaction to these moments made a big part of my experience watching it.
Not only is this movie entertaining, it perfectly displays powerful morals. The message is clear: family always comes first. This is something that all kids should be taught early on. “Paddington in Peru” has multiple scenes where this message is shown through the characters.
Compared to the first two movies, there is something unique about this one. “Paddington” and “Paddington 2” teach the importance of kindness, while “Paddington in Peru” goes deeper than just the surface message. It made me question my own personal morals and actions toward my family.
Although this movie might seem like a typical PG movie, it made for a wonderful experience overall. It had me doubting my choices. I recommend it for all ages, especially those who love watching short, wholesome films.
