As the weather grows cold, sprinkles of snow and ice dust the ground, fire crackles in the fireplace and the smell of gingerbread wafts through the air: the perfect thing is to stay warm with some cozy activities. Here are five cozy Christmas activities for moments like these.
5. Puzzles
Puzzles are a relaxing activity to do any time of the year, but they are great when the weather is too cold for most outdoor activities. There are a multitude of Christmas-themed puzzles in any style for all skill levels. There’s something so cozy about doing a puzzle when it’s cold outside.
4. Watch Christmas movies
From Hallmark to “Die Hard,” binging Christmas movies is a great way to spend winter break. I enjoy watching Christmas specials of my favorite childhood shows, but there are also romantic comedies, old classics and action movies with a holiday twist.
3. Decorate for Christmas
Just as exciting as the actual holiday, decorating for Christmas is essential. Though the process can be tedious, decorating the house with family or friends is a great way to spend quality time together. A bonus activity could be shopping for or making decorations. My favorite places to look for decorations are craft fairs, but stores like Target have great options, too.
2. Make gingerbread houses
Making gingerbread houses is a rewarding activity to do before the holidays. Not only is the actual process delightful, but afterward, there is a cute and festive display. Even if the gingerbread house doesn’t look the best, it still makes for a tasty holiday treat.
1. Bake cookies
My favorite activity to do over the holidays is baking cookies. From making the dough to decorating the cookies with icing, the whole process is a joy. I’m not overly fond of gingerbread, so sometimes I’ll use sugar cookies instead for the same experience.
