Five ways to spend Valentine’s Day alone
Valentine’s Day can be an emotionally challenging time for many teens. The holiday comes with a lot of pressure to have someone to spend it with, and it can feel incredibly lonely when you aren’t in a relationship. However, the truth is, you don’t need a significant other to have an enjoyable Valentine’s Day. Here are a few things you can do to still enjoy the holiday by yourself.
Bake Valentine’s sweets
I’ve seen people all over TikTok showing off their cute recipes to make with “that special somebody.” In reality, baking can be just as fun by yourself. Make yourself some heart-shaped cookies or chocolate covered strawberries, and indulge in delicious desserts.
Hang out with friends
Even without a date, you don’t have to spend Valentine’s Day alone. A popular Valentine’s trend is “Galentines,” where girls get together with their best friends to spend the day with each other instead of stressing over boys. Significant others may come and go, but your best friends will almost always be a constantly supportive factor in your life, making activities with them on Valentine’s Day more enjoyable.
Self-care
Nothing is more important than taking care of yourself. Spending the day feeling refreshed and relaxed is much more important than worrying about a date. Run a nice bubble bath, put on a refreshing face mask or relax while listening to your favorite music. If affordable, make an appointment to get a professional massage or facial. Putting yourself first will make your Valentine’s Day 10 times better.
Treat yourself
Sometimes, treating yourself is a better feeling than having someone else treat you. Get dressed up for yourself and have fun without worrying about other people’s opinions. Go to your favorite restaurant, buy yourself your favorite meal and dessert and simply have a great time.
Watch rom coms
There’s nothing like watching a feel-good romantic movie. These heartwarming films can make you feel the love between characters – it’s the best way to take away the stress and sadness of being alone by making you laugh and filling your heart with love and joy.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be as lonely as you think when you’re single; there are still many ways to enjoy the holiday without a significant other. Instead of sulking at home, enjoy one of these activities to brighten your experience.
