Worldwide K-pop phenomenon BTS released its new album “MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA” on April 12. Its last album had been released in summer 2018, so fans across the world were thrilled to hear about this album.

Not only were fans excited because of a nine-month wait coming to an end, but the past three albums have had different messages. The “Love Yourself” trilogy was made to inspire younger generations to critique their beliefs about self confidence. After the trilogy, fans have been thrilled to hear a new sound with different meaning.

The 30-minute album started off with “Intro: Persona,” rapped by Kim Namjoon, better known as RM. The song is filled with rhetorical questions such as “who am I?” and “where’s your dream?” to give the album’s purpose. RM raps about wanting to find his true self and to tear down his facades, and the rest of the album carried out that crucial message.

Following that, its single, “Boy With Luv” featuring singer Halsey, presented a different theme from the whole album. This song was bubbly and upbeat, expressing the want for a friend to seek comfort from. Personally, this song is my favorite because of the vibes and contradicting message being given.

A few songs later, “HOME” gives off an adventurous, mysterious vibe. With the mix of Jungkook and Park Jimin’s vocals, the song makes No. 2 on my favorite songs list. This song is about wanting to find comfort in someone— to have a helping hand when needing it most.

“Dionysus” ends the album, giving nostalgic vibes to fans who had heard many of its older albums. The song gives off strength and endurance within the lyrics and melodies, leaving the fans with a happy feeling until the next album.

Bottom line, even though its music may be sung in a language that many don’t understand, the music still has lots of meaning that can positively affect fans.
