[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]If you’re looking for the green hat, red feather “Peter Pan,” this is not the place. Instead, this year’s all-school musical is a beautiful blend of expertise and a safe haven to be your inner child again.

After 4 long months of preparation, the cast and crew of “Peter Pan” definitely gave the audience something to remember. From the impeccable costumes and sets, to the chemistry between characters, the school’s “Peter Pan” brings a fresh take to an old favorite.

The contrast between the boyish disorder that is the Lost Boys and the wild elegance of the Indians is stunning, making you want to jump out of your chair and scream the “Ugg-a-Wugg” right with them. Not to mention the pirates, who will have you in side-splitting laughter from the very beginning. The chemistry between Captain Hook (Sean Ghedi) and Smee (Jeremiah Abdullah) was amazing, they alone could carry the whole show.

And the flying. The flying was absolutely the highlight of the show, I have to give it to Peter Pan (Peyton Roberts), for executing fantastic choreography while ten feet in the air, and managing to stick a perfect landing every time.

Most of all though, I have to give it to the amazing professionalism seen in each and every character, onstage and backstage. We easily forget the unsung heroes of the musical: the orchestra pit. Each note seemed better than the last, without them, the caliber that “Peter Pan” reached would be unfathomable.

Unfortunately though, each musical comes a few mistakes. The show is very single-centric, focusing mainly on Peter, without giving much character development to the other characters. The singing was gorgeous, but was often overpowered by the orchestra, taking away some effect.

It’s easy to be overtly critical of a production such as this, but overall, it was fantastic. “Peter Pan” is the musical to beat, family-friendly with a surprise profundity.
