After three years in a file cabinet, a student-made book filled with Pre-AP Pre-Calculus teacher Randal Cary’s iconic phrases make a reappearance.
With a cowboy for a father and a home in the ‘boonies,’ Cary listened to these phrases growing up and passed them down to his unsuspecting students walking into day one of Pre-AP Pre-Calculus.
The end of the school year marks Cary’s retirement, but his odd phrases will remain in students’ memories long after.

- Don’t say plug it in: You don’t plug numbers in, you substitute them
- Take notes and pay attention: Pre-Cal is not self-explanatory
- Don’t argue: He has a severe beating stick
- Refrain from whining: He has a very specific phrase for you
